Just yesterday, I completed the first pre_alpha release of the core backend and frontend of an open source social networking application that I've been working on. The application is built in Perl on Linux ( Fedora and Suse ), Apache, mod_perl, and the Perl Template Toolkit.
There are known issues with the application but I wanted to get this first release out for people to look at, hack, provide valuable comments/feedback/ideas, help with testing and installation, and find some volunteers for various aspects of the application from graphics (logos, etc ) to web design to back end database optimizations.
